The Search Goes On

The search continues today to find the fourth crew-member from the helicopter that crashed Thursday night. So far we only know that they have widened the search zone and they have recovered a large portion of the parts of the helo (we say he-low). All the Coast Guard are feeling it here. The CG is not a large service and only a small amount are actually on island...so just about everyone knew at least one of the four on board. Meals and support have been going out to the families of the crew-members and the men working in the search, recovery, and clean-up of the crash. John said it was pretty rough when they pulled up the helo out of the water. I hope he's doing okay...he had to go straight from working with the recovery guys to the scout camp-out last night without any time to process everything. I'm sure he'll be fine but the CG community will be feeling the effects of this sad event for a while.

I'm so sorry. It is so great that the Coast Guard is such a tight-nit group, and that you can help eachother. I hope this experience brings all of you closer together. Aren't we so glad that we have the gospel to bring us comfort. We know that there is a reason for our trials and that we can see eachother in the next life. Sometimes experiences like this can bring people to Christ. Please know that we love you and your in our prayers. Give John our love!

When that hellicopter crashed at Ft. Drum a few years ago, Pete and I and our medical company went out to the site in the middle of the night to get the 11 bodies and transport them back to base. It was awful. Something I will never forget, and I didn't even know those guys who died. So I really feel for John. I hope he's doing okay.

Nearly 5 weeks...

I've been told I need to update the blog so here are several pictures of little Star. She is now just over 11 lbs. and just shy of 23" long. She is just a bit big. Miss Fabulous was nearly 4 months old before she got as big as our Star! She is fun and really cuddly. She really loves to eat (thus the big size!) and sleep but seems to be wanting to be on the move. John has dubbed her "Scooter" because she is never where we put her. She rolled over from her back to her tummy the other day! Still not great at night...sometime she just wants to be awake, but last night she slept 7 hours straight and I'm hoping its the beginning of a trend! Miss Fabulous just LOVES her little sister and is always trying to help. MF is doing a little better in school with a lot of help from her teacher and some from us at home. We are starting her in a program at school where they help children deal with transition, which seems to be the biggest part of her problem. The progr...
