Going Postal

I'm going to try to be brief because its night time and its dark and my brain goes all weird when the sun goes down. Plus I read Brisingr all day until I finished it around 5:30. Miss Fabulous is somewhat traumatized at the lack of parenting from my corner for the last two days. She seems to think she is now the parent. We had meltdowns over eating pancakes with strawberries and Cool Whip. She screamed until I told her if she ate one pancake with strawberries and Cool Whip (I had already made one for her) then she could have another one with just syrup. She calmed right down and forced herself to eat that pancake just so she could have one with syrup. I don't know where this child comes from. John and I just shook our heads at the absurdity. This is the child who sneaks into the fridge to get the strawberries so she can eat them all up herself. The same child who licks the Cool Whip container clean. And also the child who fights me if I even suggest pancakes...unless I put red food coloring in the batter so they are pink.
Hmmmm....I actually didn't mean this post to be about MF at all. I thought I might write a review about Brisingr (not nearly as good as Eragon or Eldest...too many lengthy descriptions if you ask me...although no one did). I was looking forward to the end of the Trilogy however, because he couldn't finish it in this one last novel, it is no longer a trilogy but a cycle. Is that what a series of 4 is...a cycle? Odd. Anyway. I wasn't impressed and it seemed a little long and tedious. And bloody. Some cool turns but really, I don't think I'm going to bother with the last one. I have a classic books list that I'm going to stick with in the future. I have yet to read the majority of them and many of those I have read I would like to read again. Maybe I'll post that list...anyone interested?
So much for keeping this brief. I'm going to head to bed so I can be rested to resume my parental and household duties. Before I do though...check out the cute hair I did for MF last week:

Well I thought it was cute anyway. I'm trying to be creative as I go since we decided to eliminate bangs and MF's are way too long to just hang down.

LOVE it! Hey I was thinking that we should do our girls hair in the smocking style on the same Sunday since we both know how to do it. I think they would be thrilled at being twins. Maybe for the primary program?

Reverting Back

Summer Fade

 Summer is drawing to an end. We have traveled to AZ and UT. Played far too many video games and watched entirely too much TV. Workbooks were provided by myself with incentive to anyone who finished would get a large prize...no takers. No mom school this year...that may be a thing of the past with all these kids growing up.  John announced his retirement for next year and we are on the hunt for a place to finally settle into for next year. Nearer to family sounds great. New England has a lot to offer too. Our money will stretch a lot farther in a LCOL area like Iowa or Ohio. We do love being near the ocean or water and did love Alaska. This is going to be harder than I thought. The kids are going back to school and, since we live in SoCal now, we will continue to experience summer. I'm still not sure what MissFab is doing this year. Star started her Sophomore year of high school and she is nearly a week in. Nearly 5 weeks...

I've been told I need to update the blog so here are several pictures of little Star. She is now just over 11 lbs. and just shy of 23" long. She is just a bit big. Miss Fabulous was nearly 4 months old before she got as big as our Star! She is fun and really cuddly. She really loves to eat (thus the big size!) and sleep but seems to be wanting to be on the move. John has dubbed her "Scooter" because she is never where we put her. She rolled over from her back to her tummy the other day! Still not great at night...sometime she just wants to be awake, but last night she slept 7 hours straight and I'm hoping its the beginning of a trend! Miss Fabulous just LOVES her little sister and is always trying to help. MF is doing a little better in school with a lot of help from her teacher and some from us at home. We are starting her in a program at school where they help children deal with transition, which seems to be the biggest part of her problem. The progr...
