Catching up
It seems like we've been busy, but then again it doesn't. On the 18th, Miss Fab and I went to see the Princess and the Frog. Although I liked the music and the moral (your dreams can only take you so far..the rest is good ol' work), I thought it was creepy and MF got scared a couple of times and asked me to put my hand over her eyes until the scary parts were over. It reminded me a little of Anastasia for some reason. To each his own, but I highly doubt we will be buying that one.
John and some friends wanted to go surf on the North shore the next morning and the girls and I thought we'd tag along. We spent a couple of hours waiting until a decision was made about where to actually get in the water. They finally settled on a spot that had a beach where Miss Fab could play and I could watch and take pictures in peace.
Miss Fabulous bringing me a shell she found.
Running from the wave.
John got smashed by that wave...look how high his board went in the air!
He caught two waves that day, which was really good since it takes a lot of effort just to get out there and then great timing and being in the right place at the right time to actually get on one.
That night was the church Christmas party. They had several Hawaii stations and we traveled from one to another learning about Hawaiian traditions and customs.
Miss Fab making a ti leaf lei. Sister T is amazing and has taught me how to crochet leis as well!
MF and Star with da...I mean Santa.

After attending classes we went in to eat. They had great food (luau style) and even better entertainment. John and Miss Fabulous sang Rudolf which was really cute. MF really wanted to win a pineapple but in order to get one you had to answer trivia questions right. Well, after nearly getting trampled once, pushed another time, and just not getting it due to not screaming the answer out as she ran up to the front we decided it wasn't worth it and told her to just stay with us and relax (she had come back crying each time). Later they asked a question that it seemed like no one knew so I whispered the answer to her and she quietly walked up there and won a pineapple. It was good too! They also had a couple ladies hula for us, a sister did belly dancing, the elders sang the Hawaiian 12 days of Christmas (12 elders singing, 11 board shorts, 10 pounds of rice, $9 milk, 8 kitty cats, 7 hula dancers, 6 haoles surfing, 5 cans of spam, 4 pair of slippas, 3 ukuleles, 2 boogie boards, and a coconut in a palm tree), the children sing a song and play bells, and there were a few more but I'm going to move on now. I will say that EVERYONE did a great job!

Traditional Christmas Tree Bread! Oh, so yummy!
Our Christmas Tree! I love it! Every year I think, hmm...maybe I'll try to do a fancy tree this year instead of putting all the memory ornaments on. Every year, I end up putting all the same ornaments on and I love it! I should just stop trying to be fancy. I'm just not cut out for it.
Miss Fab's tree. She put the lights on and decorated it herself.
Star's tree. MF also decorated it. Next year I'll get a longer strand of lights and add some ribbon and little star ornaments I got for her.
John worked all day and part of the evening too on Christmas eve. The girls and I stayed home and baked and I sewed too. We spent the evening with friends, eating breakfast for dinner and just enjoying not being by ourselves (thanks Sheree and Hans!)
Christmas morning: I didn't get a single picture of us opening presents but I did get one of John trying to ride MF's new Razor.
We spent the rest of Christmas day in our pajamas, but by the time the evening rolled around, I was tired of being home so we took a drive. We drove out west and then turned around and went into Honolulu and down through Waikiki (holy crowds of people batman!) and just as we were passing the zoo, John noticed that his favorite burger place (Teddy's Bigger Burgers) was open! So we ate Christmas dinner there.
The Feast!
