Just stuff
Yesterday I had zero energy. I woke with a start before 5 a.m. because somewhere in my brain I remembered I was sent a Flat Stanley by my cousin (2 months ago) and they needed it back by May 15th. Ahhhh! Not that I could do anything about it at 5 a.m. but I got up and tried to think of places to take him where I wouldn't have to have very much energy or patience. Dealing with large crowds of people takes both and all the touristy places here always have lots of people. We took a few pictures yesterday morning, went grocery shopping, and I was done. I am usually pretty energetic and happy. Not so yesterday. Poor Miss Fabulous had to deal with a very angry and tired mommy. Hopefully she won't be scarred for life. The goal is to get a few more pictures today, hit the swap meet for a few souvenirs for Flat Stanley to take back to the class, and get him shipped out sometime on Wednesday!
John got a smallish tent this last weekend so he and Miss Fabulous could "camp out" in the back yard. He forgot to put it up and late Saturday night, just as MF was drifting off to sleep on my lap, she asked if she could sleep in the tent. It was too late then, but John put it up the next morning and she has been playing in it off and on since then. Last night she said she was going to go lay down in the tent but came back a few minutes later saying she needed a paper towel because a bug got in the tent and she needed to clean it up. I asked her if she had smashed it (thus the cleaning up?) and she told me no. I asked her what it looked like (we have centipedes around here and I was concerned about her getting stung) and she just said it was really big. I gave her the paper towel and went back to changing the laundry. She comes running back in squealing that she had got it and I told her to take it to John...mostly because I wanted to see what kind of bug my little girl had caught. Yeah...it was a wasp. Nice huh? This tiny girl swells up like mad with a little mosquito bite, I can only imagine if that wasp had stung her. If it had been me I'd have run away and come back armed with bug spray. I'm getting to be more of a chicken as I get older, but MF seems to be fearless. That in itself is a little scary for me. She told me a couple of days ago that she is little so nothing can happen to her. I'm pretty sure she really believes that and all I can do is try to warn her of dangers and hope she listens.
Still no name for Star. I'm a little frustrated with the whole thing.
I've been asked to register at Target and Amazon...and as much as I like to be hooked up to the computer, registering is not fun. I don't mind so much at the store because you can touch things and see them etc. but when its just a picture on the screen...I become very indecisive. I think I'm just going to pick out a few major items and leave the rest up to those who are planning on shopping. What's the fun it getting someone something if you can't pick it out? I guess its "safer" but still not as fun.
I painted a cute (well we think so anyway) mermaid for MF's bedroom. It turned out far better than I had expected since people are not exactly my favorite thing to paint. SO not realistic but fun and whimsical and I just have to decide if I want to add a little glitter to it for sparkle or not. I'll post a picture soon, if I remember.
Anyway, I'm going to try to make today a little more fun for MF since I was such a grouch yesterday. Maybe we'll have to paint some more...she just loves it!
