County Fair

In mid-July, we went to the county fair.  We usually avoid crowded places, but we love seeing the animals, the crafts and displays, eating deliciously horrible food, as well as riding a few rides.  This year, we went on the day they opened...mostly because I thought it was just one weekend and that was the only day we had available that weekend.  I found out after we were there that it was a full 10 day event!
Checking out the alpacas, careful not to get spit on.
Miss Fabulous holding a baby chicky.
She has such sweet little hands!
Star got to hold one too, with Daddy's help!

Star REALLY wanted to ride one of the ferris wheels.  She and I got a nice long ride and she loved it!  She could see so far!

Miss Fabulous wanted to ride the roller coaster and John and I were pretty happy that she was big enough to ride by herself.  She ended up in a car with a man and his son.  MF screamed the WHOLE time!  It was pretty funny.  John and I got a good laugh out of her screaming.  She wanted to go again when she was done, but she was quickly running out of tickets so we headed over to...
this thing.  She didn't quite get the hang of it.  I think the guy had her bands too tight.  She could hardly get down to jump, let alone get a good bounce out of it!
It started to get pretty hot and the kids were getting tired.  Soon we had this...
Star had had enough.  We went to get cold drinks and head home.  Star got a milkshake, MF a slushie, John got some onion rings and a soda, Dash got a capri sun, and I REALLY wanted a snow cone, but ended up having to settle on a cotton candy.
We got out to the car only to realize that John had left the keys in the car and I, dutifully, had locked the doors before leaving the car.  We called some friends who broke into our house, retrieved the spare keys, and delivered them to us at the fairgrounds.  In the meantime, we picked a LOT of dandelions and made sure we spread the seeds around.  We took pictures, ate our treats, had races, and tried not to die of heatstroke.  Now we carry the extra keys in the diaper bag in a secret compartment in the hopes that we won't be in that situation again.  One can hope!
