CG Day 2012

This post is a long time coming...well, 2 weeks anyway.  August 4th is Coast Guard Day.  August 3rd is our anniversary.  This year, they celebrated CG Day on our Anniversary.  They did it for us.  Not really, and it probably would have been an easier day if they hadn't, but it was on our Anniversary and that made for a LONG day.
Let me back up one more day.  On August 2nd, we went out to eat with our friends, Chris and Chelsea.  We had a groupon for a Steakhouse and with that groupon it covered 3 of the 4 of us for an all-you-can-eat extravaganza.  Yep!  Eat until you puke, then eat again.  But not the puke.  Yuck.
The food was good, we had a babysitter who owed us a favor (so that was free-ish), and our friends drove.  It was fun and was nice to go out with another couple, minus kids.
Okay.  CG Day.  We got up, exchanged gift, ate breakfast, and headed out to CG Day.  We like to go right when it gets started so we can be all done just about the time when everyone else is arriving.  We are those kind.
Miss Fabulous sang the National Anthem for CG Day and she did a great job!  We had practiced in the car to and from swim lessons and often while Star was in the car too.  Star wanted to sing with her but didn't understand fully what was going on.  She refused to go up with MF, but when MF was done, she loudly announced, "My turn!"  She was NOT happy that she didn't get a turn.
They had lunch, a giant mural to color, 2 bounce houses, giant checkers and chess sets, Frisbee and toss games, face painting, balloon animals, and rides to and from the beach.

This poor guy had lined wool pants on.  I wasn't thinking clearly when I picked them out.  They soon were rolled up so he could have a little of the cool breezes, but he was red faced and sweaty all day anyway.
Still a happy guy though!

Since John and I were headed to a Red Sox game that evening for our anniversary, I went ahead and had my face painted too.  When we got home, we had an hour and a half to get dinner together for the kids and our sitters (John had fixed a car radio for a couple at church and they volunteered to watch the kids...at our house!), get ourselves ready to go, and head to Fenway Park.
The picture looks further away than we were.  It was still fun.  We left at 9 though, so we wouldn't be sitting in traffic and so we could be home at a decent hour (and thus our sitters would get home at a decent hour too!).  We were sure spoiled two nights in a row!  The kids LOVED it too.  They think having a babysitter is the best thing EVER.
