Halloween
I have a hangover of sorts. It has to do with Halloween, the amount of sugar floating in the air, and the neighbors causing a ruckus at all hours of the night (again). I was really good and stayed away from the candy (I'm actually not a huge fan of candy...its the ice cream that gets me) and the cakes and just sweets in general, but for some reason woke up this morning completely achy (even my eyeballs hurt) and tired. I'm downing lots of water and John just made me eggs and toast and we are enjoying the quiet before the girls wake up.
Here are the pictures from Halloween...
Miss Fabulous in her Tinkerbell costume. I put the dress together and made the little shoes. I looked everywhere for white wings but no such luck. MF did not win any prizes...she never does, poor thing. The people that won all had store-bought costumes...something that bugs me, but that's my problem not theirs.
She looks pixie-like, doesn't she? I love my cute girl!
Tink with Paul Bunyan. John and I were supposed to go as Hanz and Franz from old SNL but after wearing our costumes to a party on Friday night and totally roasting in them, we decided to re-think our plan.
I went as a nerd. I have the glasses, the braces, and the bushy hair...why not utilize them? Yes, Tinkerbell loves to have her picture taken. :0)
We went to the church for their Halloween party. The activities they do are always WAY over the top. This party was Amazing! This is one of the MANY backdrops and decorations they did.
MF playing one of the many games. There's nothing like a pixie with a nerf gun.
The donut game. I'm not a fan of doing this but Miss Fabulous jumped right in!
What a cute powdered sugary mess!
They had a mummy making booth.
Ooooo. Scary.
We entered the "Ace of Cakes" contest. The outside of the book is sugar cookie with brown food coloring. The corner protectors are rolled fondant and we also used fondant around the cake part and then pressed lines into it and painted it with brown food coloring. We made our own buttercream frosting and colored it brown and green and crumbled the trimmings from the chocolate cake as dirt. I made the little figures out of Fimo/Sculpey. You can't see them all but we had a double edge axe for Paul Bunyan, Pippi Longstocking sticking out of the book, a spider for Charlotte's Web, Peter Pan's hat, Harry Potter's wand, an apple for Johnny Appleseed and Snow White, a yellow hat for Curious George, a tiny sheep for Gulliver's Travels, a lasso for Pecos Bill, a key for The Secret Garden, and a tutu for Fancy Nancy. I had several more that I was going to make but I think it may have been way too busy with all of them on there. All in all, it took us about 3 hours to assemble, about an hour to do the little figures, and cake baking time (there were 4 9x13 cakes in there).

We won "Most Creative" I think.
Miss Fabulous wanted a picture of her with her vampire teeth in. There you have it.
The way Star spent the majority of the night. She was originally Peter Pan but I made the shirt too small...we'll it would have fit her if I had made it out of something that would have stretched to get her arms in or put buttons on it or something. So I was going to make her a red hood so she could go as Little Red Riding Hood but I ran out of time and in the end, neither she nor I cared.
November, here we come!
