I'm busy doing nothing

I'm going to a ball in a week and a half. Its pretty fancy. I'm getting a manicure/pedicure which I've only done twice/once in my life. I'm thinking of getting my hair done even. Not that I have the kind of money to be frittering it away on girly rituals, but I feel like I should do SOMETHING girly every once in a while to remind John (and myself) that I'm a girl...er...woman? Whatever. Anyway. The ball is getting closer and well...I haven't even started on my dress. I did get the pattern and the fabric. And that's as far as I've gotten. On the other hand, I have done this:

Yep, a bumper pad for a crib. Pretty good for a first attempt. Hopefully my sis-in-law likes it!
And this goes with it...when its done, that is. Its super duper cute in my opinion and almost makes me want to re-do Miss Fabulous' room in red and blue. Almost. Someday I'll finish the quilt I started for her nearly 2 years ago.

Anyhow. My house is a mess, I'm a mess and quite tired, its nearly 10 pm and I'm heading to bed. Tomorrow I'll finish the little quilt and get it sent so I can get down to work on the dress. That's the plan. Hmmm...we'll see.

oh! you got me a cute crib set! how thoughtful! lol! Anyway - I was thinking of how unfair it was that you sent your sickness across the Pacific Ocean just so I could enjoy it. Cause it has been almost 3 days and I am still sick as a dog! BARF! Oh well. The pseudafed has kept me ALIVE! Too bad I still have to work!

I totally hear ya on the house i a mes thing. I finished my last day of work at the school for the deaf and blind june 6th and I still haven't gotten around to cleaning. Shameful, I know! wink

Reverting Back

Summer Fade

 Summer is drawing to an end. We have traveled to AZ and UT. Played far too many video games and watched entirely too much TV. Workbooks were provided by myself with incentive to anyone who finished would get a large prize...no takers. No mom school this year...that may be a thing of the past with all these kids growing up.  John announced his retirement for next year and we are on the hunt for a place to finally settle into for next year. Nearer to family sounds great. New England has a lot to offer too. Our money will stretch a lot farther in a LCOL area like Iowa or Ohio. We do love being near the ocean or water and did love Alaska. This is going to be harder than I thought. The kids are going back to school and, since we live in SoCal now, we will continue to experience summer. I'm still not sure what MissFab is doing this year. Star started her Sophomore year of high school and she is nearly a week in. Nearly 5 weeks...

I've been told I need to update the blog so here are several pictures of little Star. She is now just over 11 lbs. and just shy of 23" long. She is just a bit big. Miss Fabulous was nearly 4 months old before she got as big as our Star! She is fun and really cuddly. She really loves to eat (thus the big size!) and sleep but seems to be wanting to be on the move. John has dubbed her "Scooter" because she is never where we put her. She rolled over from her back to her tummy the other day! Still not great at night...sometime she just wants to be awake, but last night she slept 7 hours straight and I'm hoping its the beginning of a trend! Miss Fabulous just LOVES her little sister and is always trying to help. MF is doing a little better in school with a lot of help from her teacher and some from us at home. We are starting her in a program at school where they help children deal with transition, which seems to be the biggest part of her problem. The progr...
