Brooke did it...



She tagged me. She's my super cute friend who I never call, never write to, but we always have tons to talk about and have fun any time we get together. AND she has a very terrific family!
She tagged me for 6 random things about me...so here it goes!
1. I cannot, nor do I want to, watch scary movies...or even their pre-views. I have an over active imagination and it takes over when it gets dark outside. Little things become big, small sounds become loud noises, and basically I go crazy. John tricked me once into seeing "Signs" once (I hadn't seen any previews and he told me it was about crop circles). So to keep the bumps in the night to a minimum, I try to eliminate the scarier things.
2. I love to paint, but can't draw to save my life. When I paint, things come out like magic and I usually like or even love the end result. When I draw, it never comes out the way I want and no manner of tweaking fixes it...it only makes it worse. Miss Fabulous, however, likes my drawings. Probably because she can copy it and do better.
3. I have a degree in Drafting Technology. I've used it once and probably won't ever again. It was originally a means to me becoming an Architect or going into Interior Design but then I met John and haven't been back to school since. So sad, so true.
4. I sell candles. Sorta. I'm a consultant for PartyLite but I do very little selling. I pretty much became a consultant to feed my addiction to their candles. Now I'm stocked up pretty well so who knows if I'll ever have a show again.
5. I really wanted to play softball for the school team when I was in High School. I went to pre-tryout training for a couple of weeks and worked really hard to be able to make it on the team. The Saturday before tryouts (they were on a Monday) I played basketball for the church team and my knee cap somehow popped out of its socket and I ended up on crutches. There were no tryouts for me and no chance of getting on the team. I still love sports and will play if I get the chance but mostly, at this point, I'm a watcher.
6. I kill plants. I don't know how, but I do. I'm a murderer. I have found some plants that are pretty much unkillable and pretty much I water them when they look dead and they perk right up! I'm soon going to try my hand at gardening but I will be doing it with John's help and pretty much everything works out for him, so hopefully he can keep the plants alive and I can kill the weeds! We are a great pair.

I'm a plant killer too. I'd get the death penalty for sure if it was illegal to kill plants, and yet I love trying to grow them.

Is the Heather you are talking about me? I notice there is more than one on your sidebar...

Reverting Back

Summer Fade

 Summer is drawing to an end. We have traveled to AZ and UT. Played far too many video games and watched entirely too much TV. Workbooks were provided by myself with incentive to anyone who finished would get a large prize...no takers. No mom school this year...that may be a thing of the past with all these kids growing up.  John announced his retirement for next year and we are on the hunt for a place to finally settle into for next year. Nearer to family sounds great. New England has a lot to offer too. Our money will stretch a lot farther in a LCOL area like Iowa or Ohio. We do love being near the ocean or water and did love Alaska. This is going to be harder than I thought. The kids are going back to school and, since we live in SoCal now, we will continue to experience summer. I'm still not sure what MissFab is doing this year. Star started her Sophomore year of high school and she is nearly a week in. Nearly 5 weeks...

I've been told I need to update the blog so here are several pictures of little Star. She is now just over 11 lbs. and just shy of 23" long. She is just a bit big. Miss Fabulous was nearly 4 months old before she got as big as our Star! She is fun and really cuddly. She really loves to eat (thus the big size!) and sleep but seems to be wanting to be on the move. John has dubbed her "Scooter" because she is never where we put her. She rolled over from her back to her tummy the other day! Still not great at night...sometime she just wants to be awake, but last night she slept 7 hours straight and I'm hoping its the beginning of a trend! Miss Fabulous just LOVES her little sister and is always trying to help. MF is doing a little better in school with a lot of help from her teacher and some from us at home. We are starting her in a program at school where they help children deal with transition, which seems to be the biggest part of her problem. The progr...
