Miss Fabulous and I went to the Discovery Gateway in Salt Lake City with my cousin, Rachel, and her daughter, Kesley. This place is amazing! Miss Fabulous loves it only slightly more than I. It is 2 stories of kid paradise! We attended a music class where the kids sang songs and made drums.

Those balls from the ball-pits are redeeming themselves! Here, there isn't a ball pit but an area dedicated to sticking those colored balls in holes and watching what happens!

This one has air that pushes the ball up an into a twisting clear tube and then down again into a large bin where they can start their journey all over again.

They have a "farm" and on that farm there's a Horse...complete with hay bales (made of vinyl cover foam). There are also chickens that cluck when you hunt for the eggs, trees with peaches on them, and a variety of vegetables "growing" on the farm. The kids can harvest the food in bushel baskets and take them to the grocery store where there's a farmers market along with a frozen food section, bakery, and shelves of food!

After checking out in the grocery store (we used invisible money here), we took the food to the house that was the perfect size for tiny people. The house is furnished and the kids can even wallpaper the walls with patterned vinyl. There's also a construction zone where kids in hard hats and safety glasses build things with large blocks, a water area with floating ping pong balls, a post office with a carrying bag and letters to deliver (each area has a mail box), and everywhere you look there are ride on (and in) cars and motorcycles zooming all over. Oops...forgot the
itty bitty kid area they have for the extra young ones who don't want to get run over.
That's just the downstairs...the upstairs has an animation area, a stage with costumes, a news room complete with green screen, radio booths, a building area where you can test your building against an earthquake, a pipe building area, a place where you can send a message across the open area overlooking the downstairs, a place where you can make a paper airplane and test its aerodynamics, and (my favorite) the helicopter. We didn't get to everything but we did try the helicopter. Miss Fabulous heard the engine sound, got out quickly and started crying. She really thought we were going to fly off and I'm sad to say she didn't have the faith in me to fly that thing. Smart girl. :0)
