My Hero!
I got myself all set to type up a list of 10 heroes with whom I could "totally make out with if I were single and they were real, but I'm not, single I mean, I am real, but I'm also happily married and want to stay that way so maybe we should forget this"
I took a day to think about who my favorite heroes have been and as I thought, I came to the conclusion that I really should read more...or maybe just read more books with men in them. Sure, I've read classics...I enjoy the characters of Mr. Darcy, Gilbert Blythe, Mr. Bhaer and Laurie, and so on. I've also enjoyed some newer books such as Eragon and the Harry Potter series and the Lemony Snicketts books. However, I have yet to want to "totally make out" with any of them. So in the interest of this blog I will make a list...not a list of "hottie" male characters, but of books I have thoroughly enjoyed and will read over and over.
Here goes!
1. The Chronicles of Narnia: I just recently read this set from beginning to end and loved them. I never really liked the parts of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe that I had read before (probably because I didn't understand it) but after reading the entire series, I am hooked!
2. Little Men: I had the hardest time getting through Little Women so maybe that had some effect on how I liked the book, but when I read Little Men I was captivated. I enjoyed the boy's adventures and I liked getting to know the existing characters from Little Women, plus all of Jo's Boys (another book). Maybe I'll try reading Little Women again.
3. Eragon and Eldest: I know this is two books...well so far I haven't really had one single book...but I doubt I could pick a favorite between the two. I'm waiting for the third and final volume of this trilogy to come out (I have a long wait) but so far I have completely loved the twists and magic of these books. If you haven't read these, give them a go...and then you can wait with me!
4. The Little House on the Prairie Series: Yet another set of books...however just reading one is not enough. I think this Series may be my ultimate Favorite. The books themselves are simple with out any major complications or intrigue, but maybe it's simplicity is what makes it so alluring to me...and maybe a little sentimental for less complicated times too.
5. Pollyanna: This is a cute book. I had seen the movie as a child and not really enjoyed it because it lacked a happy ending (in my opinion). I recently read the book and liked it as well as its sequels.
6. Calvin and Hobbes: Okay, this might not be a prize winning book (or set of books) but I love reading Calvin and Hobbes...especially the snow men ones. They make me chuckle every time!
7. Harry Potter Series: I know they are pretty much world famous...and maybe that is why I didn't start reading them until around the 4th book...but these are a great read.
8. Gooseberry Patch's Get-Togethers Cookbook: I know this might not be much of a read for anyone else, but I love to cook and I love cookbooks with lots of pictures AND this one has great recipes too. Besides, cookbooks are the only books I really get to read regularly so they better be good!
9. Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm: Just really cute and it also gave me ideas of other books I might want to read, since the character of Rebecca loves to read. I think Mr. Ladd (Aladin) can be added to my list of Heroes.
10. Baby Island: However unrealistic this book is, it made me think about how different the world is now from even 40 years ago. Can you imagine letting an unknown 10-year-old "borrow" your baby?
11. Eight Cousins: I loved this book when I was a teen and still love it now.
12. Anne of Green Gables: This probably should have been a given but I thought I'd put it down anyway.
I know that not all of these books would be called a classic or will be known by many. I really wanted to put a Jane Austen book in, however I couldn't pick just one. She along with Louisa May Alcott, are two of my Favorite Authors. I am in the process of hunting down known "classics" to read in all my spare time. Suggestions?

I like some of the books on your list as well. Although Eragon...I did enjoy both of those books, but the whole storyline is a shameless rip off of Star Wars in so many ways. I could go on and on about the parallels.
