Colorado

We left the next morning after devouring yummy pancakes (thanks again Amber!) and headed into Colorado.
John was so good about making sure I got pictures of all the signs I wanted. Its so nice of him.
We got to our next destination around 12:30 and Margie and Charlie had lunch all waiting for us! After lunch we headed into town to pick up a fishing license for John and I.
On our way into town, John wanted me to take a picture of the "furry cows". So I did.
John fishing in one of the lakes. He caught the first fish!
John and Miss Fabulous mid cast. I was hiding behind Charlie.
Star would NOT keep her shoes and socks on even though it was pretty cold out there!
Charlie out fishing a ways off from us. We scare fish. And probably people too.
Cute little Miss Fabulous.
Miss Fabulous caught the second fish. Unfortunately, after it got on shore and off the hook, it slipped out and quickly flopped its way back to the water. Poor MF was so sad, but she sure did a great job!
The next morning we went out on Charlie's boat and MF got the first several fish! She was so proud! It was almost like they were jumping into the boat.
The catch of the day! 14 fish. Miss Fabulous caught 5, I caught 4, Charlie caught 4, and John only 1. In John's defence though, he was busy baiting hooks and putting the fish on stringers for MF and I. He barely got his hook wet.
We got really close to some elk. We also saw a Mama Moose and her two babies. We made sure to keep our distance from all the animals, however the elk didn't seem to care.
Charlie with our girls. He was showing MF how to adjust the binoculars so she could see all the elk in the field. Margie didn't want her picture taken and, even though I have some, I won't be posting any.
The elk.
We played golf at a little course across the street.
John was showing me how to fly fish. The sun was still up and shining right in my eyes, but I think I did okay. I didn't catch anything. I left to go back to the Cook's house earlier than John and Charlie. I really don't like leaving my kids with others even when they offer and say its okay, mostly because I feel like I'm shrugging off my responsibility on others. We had told Margie we'd be back at a certain time and that time had gone by. I couldn't even think to fish and enjoy it. I decided that next time, I'd put them in bed first and then go fishing since the sun goes down so late. Had I been there longer, I'd have tried it again. Next time.

I am so jealous of your trip! I want to go cross country and have time to do it! I love the pics of MF fishing! She looks so natural at it! Keep the posts coming. I love reading them when I am finally at home and have 5 minutes. Sorry we didn't get to meet up with you before you left. We will be making a trip out there though.
