Easter

Its about time I get these posted. The weekend before Easter, the little store down the street held a little Easter egg hunt. Not so much a hunt, in my opinion, but more like a brawl. They had cones out to section off the age groups and then put the bigger kids (ages 8 and up) on the other side of the building. I didn't dare let Star roam around DURING the "hunt" so I put her out on the grass to take some pictures before the event.

After getting some pictures of Star, I put the eggs back on the ground and strapped her into the stroller with the hopes of getting a few pictures of Miss Fabulous.
And...this is all I could get. There were so many kids and parents out there and Miss Fabulous had some technique or something because she picked up certain eggs and left others. It wasn't color for sure...you can see her passing up a pink egg in the picture. Anyway. All the eggs had hard candy in them (which MF doesn't really like) and some had papers for prizes that you could pick up. MF got 3 sorbet cups and an "Armani Exchange" baseball cap. Lovely. She didn't care about any of the prizes or the candy. She just liked the plastic eggs. Strange child.
Oh...and while I was out there trying to get a picture of my Miss Fab, I picked up a little pink egg to give to Star to play with. A small boy stuck his hand out and said, "That egg is MINE!" I was contemplating trying to tell him it was for my baby, but thankfully his mom came over and told him there were lots of eggs and he better hurry up and get them before they were all gone. I thought the whole thing was odd. For one...I don't think I'd have ever had the guts as a child to demand an adult stranger give me anything AND if I saw my child act that way, she would have had to apologize and her egg hunting would be at an end. But I'm probably a really mean mom.

Easter weekend started on Friday since school was out. Miss Fabulous had a birthday party to go to at ChuckECheese around lunch time. I got up that morning and whipped up a couple of presents:
I really wanted to keep this one!

These "slippas" are MF's but I put together a nearly identical pair for the birthday girl.
While at the party for C, another mom asked if MF was going to another party for T that evening. I told her that Miss Fabulous didn't get an invitation to that party and the mom of T said she sent invites to everyone in the class and that MF was more than welcome to still join them. Hmmm...we weren't prepared with a present for T. BUT dropping MF off for dinner and the new "Dragon" movie in 3D was tempting. So when C's party was over we went and got a present for T, relaxed at home for an hour or two and then headed out again for round 2. John and I took advantage and met some friends at Cheesecake Factory after dropping our girl off. Our neighbor brought MF home with her daughter after the movie around 10:30. Whew!
The next morning, we all got up early so John and I could participate in the Ford Island Bridge 10k Run. I ran as much as I could. I'm still quite a wimp when it comes to running but I'm liking it more and more. We finished the 10k (6.2 miles) in about 1 hour and 35 minutes. Not great but really not bad for me! (I'll post a picture later)
After getting home from that around 9:30, we got cleaned up and around 11:30 headed out to the bowling alley. Miss Fabulous had another birthday party there and we figured we'd do a little bowling too. John and I played 3 games and I actually won 1 of the 3! But maybe he just let me win it.
The party at the Bowling alley ended around 2:30 and we headed home for a little break before heading over to a Silent Auction fund raiser. We enjoyed ourselves chatting with the vendors there and letting Miss Fabulous play with the other kids and do crafts. We bid on a few things and won a few things and got home from that around 8-ish. It was then that I remembered I hadn't finished the Easter baskets for the girls. So, while John put the girls to bed and settled in to watch a movie, I started sewing. It surprised me when I was done by 9:30 and I love how they turned out!
My girls Easter baskets all full!
Emptied out the next morning. I did blue for Star and pink for Miss Fabulous.

AND a box containing all this colorful goodness arrived the day before Easter too! Happy Easter to me!!! I seriously think I'm addicted.
And to end...
This little guy and a couple of his friends have moved in. I don't mind them as long as they don't jump out at me and they run fast so Star doesn't get them. Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

I can't believe you're cool with that HUGE critter slimming around and pooping on your dishes! Ok, maybe it's not on your dishes, but when you wake-up and it's next to you in bed, your snow white attitude about your buddy might change. ;)

I doubt something the size of my fingernail will scare me that much. Besides...he's already been found inside a cereal box (John still ate some cereal and I threw the rest of the box away) and they like to eat the little bugs. He won't last long inside. MF inevitably tries to catch them and in the process ends up squishing them. We have yet to see one up stairs.

So cute!!! Did you find patterns for those bags and baskets online, and if so, can I have a linky?

I didn't find a pattern. I made them similar to the bag I sent you, only with shorter sides and I folded the outside down inside it (because I ended up cutting the inside lining too short!). They are a lot easier to store for a year than baskets!
