July the Fourth

...several days late.
There are so many things to do around here for every holiday. The hardest part? Deciding which thing to go to. Each town has their own parade and firework display. And sometimes there are even more activities. We were a little bah-humbuggish about going to celebrations on July 1st - 3rd and maybe we should have celebrated all weekend leading up to the 4th. But we are still not crowd people and so we didn't.
We did venture out on the 4th though.
After much consideration, we picked one of the parades and got there an hour+ early so we could have a decent seat where we could also get back to the car quickly afterward. We let Miss Fabulous bring her scooter to help entertain her, but Star commandeered it and John gave her lots of rides on it.

One of the banks down the road handed out balloons and bubbles to the kids as they were waiting for the parade to start. John, Star, and MF walked around up and down the road just to keep busy and to window shop.

This was just before the parade started. I thought I'd get a picture of the kiddos in their outfits, but no one would look at me. Not unusual. After the parade, we quickly packed up and went home via our favorite drink shop for a tasty beverage and cake pop. We relaxed around the house until it was time to head out to one of the lighthouses to wait for fireworks.

Star. *sigh* This child.

I had brought grapes (among other snacks) for us to munch on while we waited. Star wanted the grapes so badly...but not to eat. She wanted them to throw, kick, and bounce just like any other kid with a carton full of little balls. I showed her (like every other time) that they were only to eat, but she still would just set them down and try kicking them. Or put them in her pocket...

She also watched Miss Fabulous roll down the hill a few times and she tried to do it too, but just got grass-stained knees and bottom out of it.

Its hard to get those grapes to stay in the pocket.

John left his keys at work, but the Captain let us into the lighthouse. Poor MF knocked her finger really hard on the door as she was running in. She has such a cute sad face.
