Cake and Baby shower

First of all, a BIG Thank You to my friends, Jen and Caryn, for hosting a baby shower for me! I had lots of fun and I'm sure everyone else did too!
So I'm supposed to make my sister's wedding cake and I figured the shower was the perfect time to practice since there would be more than just 3 people around to eat it. I baked the cakes, made butter cream icing, mixed up fondant and yesterday, set out to put it all together. It was a disaster!!! After rolling and re-rolling fondant and having it stick to itself over and over, I got frustrated and threw the knife in my hand down onto the counter where it bounced and almost hit Miss Fabulous. And that was it. I spent the next while in a complete meltdown in my room. John made lunch and sent MF up to get me and when I finally came down, this (minus a few polka dots and the ribbon) is what I found:

So, yes, he not only made lunch but he stripped off the fondant I had done, rolled out fresh fondant and made it look great all while I was bawling my eyes out. ps...the plate says "Dad's Burgers It's Not Burnt, It's Blackened". :0)

Katie, I'm sorry you had a sad day prior to the shower. But, all turned out well in the end. Right?

He's not going to the wedding. We're saving up his time off for when the baby comes and for all the visitors coming around that time. Plus we just don't have an extra $700 to fly him out there. I really wish he could come but I will be happy to have him home with me after the baby comes. :0)

Summer Fade

 Summer is drawing to an end. We have traveled to AZ and UT. Played far too many video games and watched entirely too much TV. Workbooks were provided by myself with incentive to anyone who finished would get a large prize...no takers. No mom school this year...that may be a thing of the past with all these kids growing up.  John announced his retirement for next year and we are on the hunt for a place to finally settle into for next year. Nearer to family sounds great. New England has a lot to offer too. Our money will stretch a lot farther in a LCOL area like Iowa or Ohio. We do love being near the ocean or water and did love Alaska. This is going to be harder than I thought. The kids are going back to school and, since we live in SoCal now, we will continue to experience summer. I'm still not sure what MissFab is doing this year. Star started her Sophomore year of high school and she is nearly a week in. Nearly 5 weeks...

I've been told I need to update the blog so here are several pictures of little Star. She is now just over 11 lbs. and just shy of 23" long. She is just a bit big. Miss Fabulous was nearly 4 months old before she got as big as our Star! She is fun and really cuddly. She really loves to eat (thus the big size!) and sleep but seems to be wanting to be on the move. John has dubbed her "Scooter" because she is never where we put her. She rolled over from her back to her tummy the other day! Still not great at night...sometime she just wants to be awake, but last night she slept 7 hours straight and I'm hoping its the beginning of a trend! Miss Fabulous just LOVES her little sister and is always trying to help. MF is doing a little better in school with a lot of help from her teacher and some from us at home. We are starting her in a program at school where they help children deal with transition, which seems to be the biggest part of her problem. The progr...
