Dedicated to MF

Miss Fabulous turned 7 a few weeks ago and my parents were able to come down for the weekend to celebrate with us. We live in an area where there are several kids MF's age, but they are ALL boys. MF likes playing outside and building things with Legos with the boys but when it came to a birthday party, I was hesitant to invite them to a "fashion party". I think they might have been hesitant to come too. SO...in lieu of a party, we offered MF several options: Girls' Night Out, beach, fancy restaurant, shopping spree, tea party, unlimited arts and crafts for the day (she would pick what she wanted to make), and a horse ride. She picked the shopping spree after several days of mulling it over.

MF with Grandpa T.

John had to work in the morning so we went with Grandma and Grandpa T to a botanical garden/museum while we waited for him to get done.

We gave MF a hefty sum of money (since we weren't buying presents or doing a birthday party) and let her try on lots of clothes, pick out earrings and hair accessories, and find some new nail polish. She even found a pair of jeans at O.N. for $0.97! I couldn't believe it! That's my girl!!!

In the end, she had a new wardrobe for school and she was so excited to have so many new things.

I just had to get a picture of the John with his girls during the shopping spree.

At home we had ice cream cake (per MF's request) and MF received her presents from her grandparents...new skates and a few other clothing items from G&G T and dance lessons from G&G W. A BIG thank you to all grandparents! She loves everything and is SOOOO excited to start dance lessons next week! She said its the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!

MF started 2nd grade 10 days after her birthday. Thankfully Hurricane Irene didn't cause very much damage and the first day was not postponed. I'm not sure I could have handled another "when does school start again?"

Waiting for the bus. Star had to get in on the picture too.
That night, MF reported that she LOVES her teacher and that she wanted her nails done. The girls both got scrubbed and then, after Dash was in bed, we had a nail party. It took a little while since Star thought she should be able to do it herself and we had to clean up a few messes. In the end MF picked pink nails with little gold flowers and Star had purple nails with white flowers.

On a side note...notice the difference in skin color. It really is a big difference! I love these girls!

Me, too! (love those girls, I mean, Dash, too). Glad she had fun. We did, too.
