Constantly catching up

My mom has been here for the last week and we have just been going, going, going. It feels like I'm always trying to catch up on things. It took me 4 days to write the last post and I'm not sure how long it will take me to get this one complete and posted. Life doesn't slow down when you have a baby...at least my life doesn't. It just gets to be more of a juggling act. I still think going from one child to two was harder, but maybe that was because of the 5 year gap and not remembering anything.
Star is a good big sister. She is surprisingly gentle with Dash and gets upset at me (or John) when he cries, as if we are pinching the little guy or something. Miss Fabulous is still happy about having him here, but we are dealing with a LOT of issues at school now. I'm hoping it is temporary, but in the meantime she gets to write a lot of sentences and is losing privileges. My mom is enjoying her new grandson and, of course, the little girls. I DO think she'll be more than ready to go back home and relax a little.
The pictures aren't that great...I'm trying to get them taken and posted as quickly as possible or it just won't get done! Dash likes his car seat, but LOVES to be held even more. He eats a LOT...roughly 4 oz. every 3.5 to 4 hours (sometimes longer). He is barely out of newborn size and into 0-3 month, although it looks like it won't be long before he has outgrown that size as well!
Star and Miss Fabulous love to dress up. MF mostly likes to put Star in her clothes. Its pretty cute and usually Star will cooperate with her sister, but if that little girl does NOT want to cooperate, watch out MF!
When my parents drove down last week (my dad was dropping off my mom and then headed back home for work) we went to one of the lighthouses here. It happened to be a really rainy and cold day right in the middle of a week of really nice weather. John got the keys to the lighthouse so we could go inside, but baby Dash was cold, hungry, and quite stinky so my mom and I headed back to the car while John, my dad, and the girls stayed behind to climb the steps of the lighthouse. I think they had a good time and John knows quite a bit of the history of the lighthouses so its usually pretty interesting too.
Miss Fabulous getting ready to go into the very top of the lighthouse.
Up in the light. The girl doesn't have any concept of cold. She insists on wearing skirts and dresses whenever possible! Brrrr!
Star knows how cold it is but isn't old enough to dress herself. If I'm not paying attention, her dad will have her out in the car without a coat or anything. John shares MF's lack of cold sensitivity. Star will say "Brrrrr!" over and over if she thinks its cold!
The lighthouse from below. We got a little water on the lens. Hard not to do when its raining!
Okay...there's a story. Star will freeze and say her version of "cheese" when she thinks you are going to take her picture. My dad's camera has a red light that shines on the subject whenever he's ready to take a picture. She sat there completely frozen (no blinking or anything!) for quite a while! We got such a laugh out of it! This girl doesn't sit still for much, but she'd sit there without moving ANYTHING for several minutes while she waited for her picture to be taken!
We often have turkeys out in our yard. The other day we had this big guy out there as well.
We signed Miss Fab up for a "learn to skate" class. This is how she spent the majority of the first class. She kept trying to pick her feet up really high when she finally got on them and then usually ended up falling down. I just was hoping she'd be able to move around a little without falling by the time the 5 week class is over!
The next week she was like a different girl altogether! She went the full length of the ice without falling an was starting to get really fast! She'd fall down on purpose, though, just so she could eat the ice. Ugh! Some people's kids! I'm glad she's doing better though!
