Halloween

I know I'm late as usual posting these pictures, but here's how our Halloween went:
On Saturday the 30th, the girls and I drove to pick John up from the airport and then stopped for pancakes at Ihop. We wasted the morning puttering around the house and, around 11:30, started getting the girls in their costumes so they could go trick or treat around a nearby town. They had the kids parade down the street in their costumes and then they could go from business to business trick or treating. Our favorite thing there: a bakery that gave out little tokens for a free cupcake, to be used at our convenience.
We went home after that to warm up a little and get ready for Trunk or Treat at the church.
This was the "hay ride" they had for the kids. Those kids LOVED it and I think they spent the majority of the time riding around in it! They sang songs, screamed, and made scary noises at each other. There weren't a LOT of kids but enough to fill the back.
John got the job of painting faces and I think he had a good time doing it. He was part of the main action and got to work on his artistic abilities.
I'm not sure WHY this picture turned. I may have to delete it because its driving me crazy.
We had originally planned to make both girls a butterfly, but when it came time to get their wings together, I couldn't remember where I put Star's wings. I had hid them so the girls wouldn't destroy them before Halloween and I still have yet to find them. SO we made her into a bandit.
Earlier in the day at the Trick or Treating...waiting for the costume parade to start.
Her mask didn't stay for long! It was in her hair and on her hands in no time!
Miss Fabulous in her sparkly wings.
She was so cold but refused to wear a jacket under her leotard so she opted to wear a baby blanket around her shoulders.
At the end of the day, both girls were happily loaded down with their loot and ready for bed. We had a "Linger Longer" at church (a potluck right after the block meeting) on Sunday and then went home, relaxed, and waited for the trick or treaters to come around. When it started getting dark, John built us a fire outside and we let Miss Fabulous pass out candy to the kids.
Now we are about half-way through the bowl of candy and I'm contemplating throwing the rest in the trash! We love Halloween but I'm certainly glad it only comes once a year!
